Do-Over: A Bedroom Tour

Hi All,

So last summer I painted and decorated our master bedroom and it was beautiful and at the time I really loved it. After awhile though, the navy paint started to make our room feel really dark and uninviting and I really wanted to make a more permanent change. If you want to see what it looked like before go here.

I started with a new coat of paint. My husband wasn’t thrilled with the idea of painting our room a lighter color because he likes it really dark for sleeping. I bought some new black-out curtains that he can close at night to darken it up as a compromise. I love this new lighter color, it’s a grey with cream undertones to it. A lot of times grey can have purple or blueish undertones and that’s not what I wanted. I’m really happy with how it turned out!

Once the walls were painted, the oak window trim, door trims and doors seemed really out of place. As much as I was sick of painting and didn’t want to do any more, I tackled these spots next. I didn’t paint the trim along the floor or the bathroom door and trim because I know we’ll be replacing these eventually and didn’t want to waste time on something only to change it later. The trim spots I did paint though made a huge difference!

Our “new” headboard is a little DIY of our existing bed frame. I’ve always wanted a padded headboard for propping myself up while reading in bed. It turned out better than I thought it would.

The nightstand I’ve actually had for awhile sitting in our basement. I had previously tried a paint effect on it that I didn’t love so I put it in the shame corner. I repainted it before moving it back upstairs where it was supposed to be.

The art above our bed I got on Target clearance for $16! They have a TON of home stuff on sale right now so if you’re in the market, go check it out. I hope you all like our new space as much as I do!

Thanks for checking it out,

Holly
