Hi Friends, So this past week my computer broke! That means no blog last week, but now we are back at it and kicking off the year with my first recipe. I wanted to add to my blog to not only include home decor, but other things that happen in the Sunderland House, like cooking! […]

Hi!

I’m Holly! I love a good project, whether that be a small DIY or a large renovation. I created this blog to chronicle my home and that many projects we’ve undertaken to update it into this decade. I hope you find something here that inspires you to create in your own home. :)

✨ So far this week:
🛁 The very first thing we picked out for this bathroom were the faucets. 😂 But given that I’m a plumbing project manager married to a plumber does that really surprise anyone? We flipped over this new faucet concept when we first saw it in 2017 and have been waiting for it to come to market so we could put it in our home ever since. 🤩 Ordered them in October and now at the end of March they’re finally here! #supplychain Now we just need to finish out the rest of this bathroom so we can get them installed! #letsgo
✨My current favorite room in our house. Every morning I get ready in here, I’m grateful for this beautiful space. But it wasn’t always this way (swipe for the before). The smell coming from the old sink alone would have made me want to give this room a facelift - but I started plotting before we even had the keys. 🔑 The best and worst idea I had was spending hours sanding down this #goldenoak vanity and re-staining it this beautiful dark walnut. I’m not kidding about the ‘hours’ part - my hands were shaking by the time it was over! Would you have sanded it, painted it, or just ripped it out? 😂
✨ Been planning this space for so long now it feels like we should be further along than just demo! 🔨 Here’s what I have on my mood board so far for the laundry space! The tile is settled and almost everything else is still up in the air. 😂 Our last house, I designed everything with re-sale in mind because we knew we didn’t want to stay there long term. We plan on staying in this home for a long time so I get to design more for what I really want our home to look and feel like long term when I design our spaces. It’s a lot of pressure - but also so exciting! Going for a bold, fancy, Art Deco feel in this laundry room. What do you think? Love it? Hate it? Let me know!
Every morning I walk downstairs to this view and it makes me SO happy! A couple new lights, a few gallons of paint and it’s a whole different space. I might have to start cooking now. 😜 #kitchendesign #kitchenremodel #powerofpaint #showemyourstyled #cljkitchen #harlequinfloors #paintedcabinets #bhgstyle #diylookforless #currenthomeview
Our dining room was thrown together on Christmas Eve with whatever I could find laying around the house. 😂 We hosted my family for dinner so I wanted it to feel a little homey but didn’t have much time to get it there. Now I’m in planning mode for what to do long term in this space. Number one thing on the list is painting over this weird 90’s sponge paint that lives in here currently. Now taking color suggestions! 👇🏻 Swipe for one option and a close up of the weird paint job. 😂 #atleastitsnotwallpaper #evergreenfogsweepstakes #diningroomdesign #styled
☀️ Yesterday we came home from sunny gorgeous 85 degree Florida weather to a 36 degree house! 😭 All we can figure is somehow our thermostat malfunctioned and tried to restart itself but got stuck on the start up screen. I reset it, and everything immediately came back online so we’re just monitoring it for now. So lucky that we got home when we did because our poor cats were freezing and if we had been delayed who knows what might have happened to them. 🐈 We immediately turned the furnace up, started space heaters, turned the ovens on and opened the doors to thaw the house and the cats out! 🔥 After a few hours the temp was back up and thennnn we noticed the water coming through the ceiling. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ Still don’t really know the whole of what is going on but we traced it to the kitchen and our upstairs bath so for now those water lines are capped until Zac can replace the supply lines. 🛁 My new kitchen faucet had icicles coming out of it and is potentially broken as well. That’s all the damage we know of for now. Counting our blessings because it could have been so much worse! Somebody give me some good news because I could really use some right about now. #waterdamage #coldhouse #homerepairs #homeownership #vacationstories #catsofinstagram #frozenpipes #mnwinter #deepfreeze
✨ Tiniest sneak peek of our hardwoods that I painted black and white harlequin over the orange oak underneath. With a decorative border because why not? What do we think?? Also got these inexpensive black register covers to replace the wood ones. Off to clean and finally wrap all the Christmas presents hanging out in a pile on the living room floor. Happy Sunday! #paintedfloors #cljsquad #dreamitdoit #currenthomeview #blackandwhitehome
